Freedom Capital Partners was founded by Nate Hobba and Fares Akkad, who have been long time friends and investment partners since meeting over 25 years ago at the University of Southern California, Marshall School of Business undergraduate program in Los Angeles.   They have had great success investing jointly and individually in real estate over the years, providing a base of wealth and income that have provided them and their families with financial security and personal freedom.  Their goal in founding Freedom Capital Partners was to leverage their experience, knowledge and existing relationships with real estate operators across the US, to provide reliable income and financial growth for others.

Nate Hobba

Nate Hobba

Nate leads the firm’s private equity real estate strategy, investment selection, and investor relations. He founded FCP with the vision of creating access to institutional-quality, risk-adjusted real estate investments for accredited investors seeking financial freedom and passive income.  

Prior to founding FCP, Nate established South Bay Developers, a Los Angeles–based real estate development and investment firm specializing in high-quality urban infill multifamily projects across Southern California. Since 2014, his team has successfully delivered more than $100 million in residential and mixed-use developments, overseeing every stage from land acquisition and entitlement through design, financing, construction, and lease-up. Most recently, the South Bay team completed a ground-up development of an eight-story, 101-unit apartment building in Los Angeles. Over his career, Nate has founded and managed more than twenty real estate joint venture companies, structuring and capitalizing complex projects and raising over $22 million in private equity from a network of individual and institutional investors who have consistently earned double-digit returns, with zero loss of investors principal.

Nate also brings a disciplined, data-driven approach shaped by his earlier 16-year career in information technology and business consulting with PricewaterhouseCoopers, IBM, and Honda North America, where he managed large-scale enterprise programs, technology transformations, and cross-functional teams. This combination of analytical rigor and real-world development experience allows him to bridge strategic vision with operational execution — an advantage he applies daily in evaluating complex investments and managing partnerships.

An active investor himself, Nate has participated in more than forty private real estate ventures, achieving an average 19% IRR on full-cycle investments. He earned his Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from the University of Southern California’s Marshall School of Business, graduating Magna Cum Laude with Honors. Nate and his wife and two children reside in Singapore.

Fares career spans over 30 years leading growth for media and tech giants, including his current role as Regional Director for Meta (Facebook) leading the Middle East and Africa region for Meta out of Dubai, UAE.  Prior to his time at Meta, Fares was the head of Distribution and Digital Business Development for MBC Group (the largest media company in the Middle East) where he played a key role in expanding the MBC business.  

Fares has 20 years of experience owning and investing in real estate, with investments spanning the US, Europe and MENA regions. He is currently a board member for one of Dubai’s largest real estate developers, Binghatti, where he provides strategic guidance, governance, and oversight to the executive team of this mega builder.   Fares was on the board of Urban, a leading PropertyTech provider in MENA.  He is also an advisor to a variety of startups in California and Dubai and he currently sits on the board of Cafu, Aleph Investments, and Enhance Technologies.   Fares has been recognized by Forbes Magazine as one of the top 50 leaders in the Middle East and North Africa for 2021-2025. 

In the early stages of his career, Fares gained expertise working in management consulting with Booz & Company where he led several projects for the firm across media, technology and telecommunication.  Prior to that, as a senior manager at KPMG based in Los Angeles, Fares led financial audits at Fortune 500 companies.  Fares is also a big advocate for social impact ventures, currently leading efforts for autism awareness and advising several not-for-profit organizations in this field.  

Fares received his undergraduate degree and MBA from Marshall School of Business at the University of Southern California (USC), with an emphasis in entrepreneurship and finance, graduating with honors, Cum Laude. Fares is fluent in English, Arabic, Spanish and Portuguese. Fares has lived and worked in the US, Europe, Africa and South America and for the past 10 years has been based in Dubai where he currently resides with his wife and 2 children.
