Jessica Simon

Jessica Simon serves on the Advisory Board of Freedom Capital Partners, where she provides strategic guidance on legal, risk management, and investment-related matters. Drawing on her extensive experience in restructuring, distressed assets, and creditor-side advisory work, Jessica supports the firm in evaluating complex situations, assessing downside risk, and navigating legal considerations across investment opportunities.

She brings over 15 years of experience advising asset managers, lenders, and institutional investors on distressed debt, risk management, and complex restructuring matters.

Her background includes deep expertise on the creditor side restructuring matters, out of court workouts, bankruptcy risk assessment, real property and collateral enforcement, and recovery strategies involving both secured and unsecured investments. Her experience provides versatility and uncommon depth in evaluating and considering matters from various angles.

Throughout her career, Ms. Simon has worked closely with investment, asset, and special asset management teams to evaluate downside risk and enforcement options across portfolios spanning real estate, retail, manufacturing, and financial services. She has advised on numerous high-profile distressed situations and has represented the FDIC as receiver in bank failures and asset recovery matters. Her experience also extends to emerging and distressed digital asset investments.

Ms. Simon spent more than ten years in Big Law at prominent international and U.S. national law firms representing creditors in complex, national restructurings, bringing a focused, practical perspective to risk management and investment decision making. She is a speaker on insolvency and restructuring trends and has served as a panelist at conferences by Innovating Commerce Serving Communities (ICSC) and IMN Bank Special Assets West. She is a member of the International Women’s Insolvency & Restructuring Confederation (IWIRC) and previously served on the Insolvency Law Committee of the Business Law Section of the State Bar of California.

Ms. Simon earned her undergraduate degree from the University of Michigan and her law degree, cum laude, from American University Washington College of Law. She clerked at the federal district and state appellate court levels on the United States District Court, District of Hawaii and Maryland Court of Special Appeals. She is an active member of the California and Hawaii bars, and she resides in California with her husband and son.
